A Perfect Day in Anderson Valley

PRESS

Our little wine region got a bit of good press with a handful of articles written in the San Francisco Chronicle. (Read them here.) While many of you are frequent visitors, for those who haven’t visited yet I’ve put together an insider’s guide to our home. Check out this map for full details.

For the highlights, follow along on what I’d call a perfect day:

WAKE UP

Wake up at Indian Creek campground, get the French press coffee going and light a small fire. Kick off the morning chill with a strong cup of joe. Take your time, watching the smoke drift up through the redwoods and plan out the day.

First up, grab a pineapple danish at Mosswood Market in Boonville, chat with the local old dudes who meet every morning there. Short drive to Anderson Valley Brewing, pick out a favorite six-pack (you brought your small cooler, right?) and borrow some discs for the disc golf course out back. It’s a nice walk down by the creek and never too busy.

Wickson pizza appeals to all ages

Grab a pizza to-go and picnic at our tasting room

LUNCH O’CLOCK

Drop into Pennyroyal and try some cheeses, grab your favorites. They are great as gifts. Call Wickson and order your favorite pizza to-go, say hi and do a wine tasting with me at Weatherborne; scarf pizza. The ‘21 Grenache goes great with the Margherita, just saying!

Ready for more wine, pop into and say hi to Brian at Domaine Anderson (great Chardonnays) or check out someplace new, Brashley. They have nice outdoor spaces to chill, and tasty Riesling and Pinot.

NAP & SWIM

Feeling sleepy? Go sit by the Navarro River under the Philo-Greenwood Road bridge. If it’s warm and early in the season, the water is refreshing and clean. Algae takes over by July.

Underneath the Philo-Greenwood Road Bridge at the Navarro River is an epic site.

WRAP IT UP

Roll back to the campsite and clean up a bit. Cooking at the campsite with fish you bought at Lemons’? Or a delicious chile relleno from Company Kitchen? Can’t go wrong with either choice.

Sit by the fire and wait for the stars to come out. Luckily, most nights the Milky Way is visible. Now, go to sleep, that was a long day. You have more wine to drink tomorrow!

The best way to end a day, look up!
